Wataru
Wataru is based in Chiba Prefecture. His works are characterized by a POP Art style that expresses young people with complex emotions. Wataru’s artwork is not only popular in Japan, but also in international level. Regarding to Wataru’s work “LOST BOYS”, the composition is carefully crafted to express the moments the artist experienced when he was younger. The brushstrokes mirror the flow of various emotions. The subtle hints of retro and gentle atmosphere are shown through the artist’s color choices. Moreover, as seen in this collection, Wataru adds dog to many of his works as he has an idea that pets bring beautiful nostalgic memory to people. The artist himself, as well, has a good memory with his dog when he was young, and he misses his dog. Looking back to the old days, the artist uses canvas to reflect the innocent, joyful, and sometimes, struggle moments of the youths. Wataru believes that both good and bad times we experienced are reminiscing as they are parts of one’s life. The childhood moments are always worth to think of when we grow older. “LOST BOYS”, one of his masterpieces, illustrates exactly the spirit of the special moment in life.
